70 something in January

This winter had been so cold that even those of us in the deep south have bought some long johns. This weekend, after highs being in the 30's and low 40's for weeks, the high are low 70's!!

Auburn game, around the house and a puppy playdate

The weather has been so cold that we haven't really been up to much that I would consider exciting by any stretch of the imagination. Here are some family shots from around the house and Maggie's big Puppy playdate fun.

Brayden's first report card

I picked my very excited 5 year old up from school the other day. Brayden, in morning Pre K, had his first real report card in hand as he ran to me. I asked him what it was and Brayden, nearly in tears and out of breath, says to me "this is MY report card!". After lots of praise and hugs he asks me if the report tells me everything he does at school, I say yes it does. Brayden then says to me "Good, now you don't have to ask me every day!"

The goals, resolution and to do list

The goals, resolutions and to do list; about one year ago I actually made pretty much the exact same list, and I imagine I will make it again... some I did, some I didn’t. So I guess the main resolution is to give it another go.
The 5K that got away.

Last year I trained, had the distance and was ready to go. As life happens it was bad weather on the day of my 5K, then the next month Parker had procedure done and the whirl wind left me so off track that I stopped jogging and I never even signed up for a 5K.  Exercise more often with purpose, finish a 5K.

"This house is making me crazy!"

I am always at a losing end of the battle for a cleaner more organized home, moving every few years makes this an even greater challenge in my opinion. That certain something that had a place a zip code ago is just in the way here. I would like to let go of some of the wanting it to 'look good' and embrace more of the desire to organize a better flow for my family. Make my home better represent my family, it doesn’t have to look perfect but it will be happy.

Get out of that shell!

Being an Army family we move often and it seems when we aren’t moving our friends are, this can be very difficult for someone who is shy but craves social time outside of the home. I know I need to step out of my comfort zone to make new friends and find new interests. This year I will be more social, big smiles, small talk and lunch invites.

"So, what do you like to do?"

I enjoy obedience training with my dog, I almost always am reading a book, I enjoyed Bunco once I finally committed to going, I also volunteer at the elementary school. This year I will acknowledge I do have hobbies I just need to make time to do them.

That pesky to-do list…

I tend to put it off and put it off until all of a sudden all I can think of is what I need to get done. No more procrastinating and then obsessing (well that’s the goal anyway). I hope to find a way to cross things off the list in a timely manner without missing out on the day. Balance after all does lead to happiness.

So bring it on 2011, I am ready.
